Sheffield Wednesday: Owls turnover up by £7m, accounts reveal
Figures for the year ended May 31 2016 show the Owls’ losses have doubled. Wednesday made a pre-tax loss of £9.8m, up from £4.5m a season earlier.
Turnover rose by £7.1m to £22m during the period, an increase attributed to Wednesday reaching the Championship Play-Off Final, average league attendances at Hillsborough increasing from 21,997 to 22,641 plus improved revenue from commercial activities.

Hide AdThe accounts also show that the Owls’ wage bill increased rom £11.885m to £17.129m and that Thai businessman Chansiri paid £916,667 to sponsor team shirts and areas of the stadium.
Wednesday splashed the cash in the transfer market, bringing in forwards Fernando Forestieri and Gary Hooper for £3m each. They also paid significant fees for Portuguese duo Marco Matias and Lucas Joao.
