A teen in Worksop has been spared an immediate prison sentence after he was found with a kitchen knife in the town centre.

Emil Vintila was carrying the blade on Westgate on January 1, last year.

Vintila, 18, of Clinton Street, admitted the offence and received 16 weeks in detention, suspended for 12 months.

Nottingham magistrates also imposed a £122 victim surcharge and costs of £85, on March 27.

The knife was seized and destroyed under the Prevention of Crime Act 1953.
