Bomb disposal team carry out controlled explosion in Worksop

A controlled explosion has been carried out in Worksop following the discovery of old ammunition and military ordnance.

Officers from Nottinghamshire Police were called just after 5.30pm yesterday (16 October) after the discovery by a member of the public near Windmill Lane.

A specialist bomb disposal unit attended. A controlled explosion was carried out around 10.30am.

No evacuations were required.

Inspector Simon Riley, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “I’d like to thank the local community and our partners for their support in bringing this situation to a safe conclusion.”
